Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 7, 2026
1. Overview
CommitGen ("we", "our", "the Service") is a tool that converts natural-language descriptions of code changes into Conventional Commits–formatted git commands. This policy explains what data is processed when you use the Service and how it is handled.
2. What We Process
When you submit text describing your code changes, that text is sent to a third-party AI provider (DeepSeek) to generate a commit message. We do not require or collect any account information, email address, or payment details to use the Service.
We do not store your submitted text or the generated output on our servers. Each request is processed and returned to your browser; no request history or content is persisted in a database.
3. Third-Party Processing
The description you type is transmitted to DeepSeek's API to generate the commit command. DeepSeek processes this text under its own privacy policy and terms. Please avoid submitting sensitive information (such as credentials, secrets, or confidential business details) as part of your input, since it is transmitted to this third party for processing.
4. Cookies & Tracking
CommitGen does not use cookies, analytics trackers, or advertising identifiers. Your language and theme (dark/light mode) preferences are detected automatically or held only in your browser's local session and are not transmitted to us.
5. Server Logs
Our hosting infrastructure may generate standard technical logs (such as IP address, timestamp, and request status) for security and reliability purposes. These logs are not used to identify individual users and are retained only as long as necessary for operational purposes.
6. Your Rights
Since we do not retain your submitted content or maintain user accounts, there is no stored personal data associated with your use of the Service for us to provide, correct, or delete. If you have questions about data handling, you may contact us using the details below.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
